Press Release - Egyptian Ambassador visit to BOI

Islamabad, March 08, 2019: Ambassador of Egypt to Pakistan, H.E. Ahmed Fadel Yacoub, called on MOS/Chairman Board of Investment, Mr. Haroon Sharif, at BOI Islamabad today.
During the meeting, Chairman BOI explained that the government is focusing on attracting local and foreign investment in real sectors, for industrial growth, exports and its creation in the country. He apprised the Egyptian Ambassador of the particular interest of Prime Minister Imran Khan in 'tourism and hospitality' sector, in which Pakistan can learn a lot from the experience and knowledge of Egypt. Mr. Sharif assured the Ambassador that the Government of Pakistan is providing equal opportunities and incentives to all foreign investors in every sector.
Chairman BOI and H.E. Ahmed Fadel Yacoub both agreed that the current economic and commercial relationship between the two countries was not up to the potential and needed scaling up. Both agreed to boost this relationship by sharing of information and organizing visits of business delegations from both countries.
During the meeting, H.E. Ahmed Yacoub also informed Chairman BOI that one of the Egyptian billionaire has shown interest for investing in the middle-class housing project, envisaged by Prime Minister Imran Khan, and that he will be visiting Pakistan very soon. Chairman BOI assured every kind of cooperation for this particular visit, as well as for arranging the visits of Egyptian investors, who would be coming in future with an objective to explore the opportunities in the country.
